one more quacking letter to the editor

It's outrageous that Republicans are labeling Democrats' plans to provide soldiers with proper equipment and training "anti-troop."

Some soldiers were assigned to one brigade so late that they prepared for war during the two weeks they were in Kuwait, a stop they made on the way to Anbar, Iraq's deadliest province.

Is this supporting our troops?

The Arkansas National Guard's 39th Brigade Combat Team, scheduled to return to Iraq next year, is 600 rifles short for its 3,500 soldiers.

Is this supporting our troops?

Emphatically, NO.

This continued attempt by some Republicans, as perpetuated by the media, to polarize the issues for the sake of political divisiveness is grossly offensive.

Supporting the troops—as conceived by Representative Jack Murtha and democratic supporters of his measure—means protecting them from being sent into the middle of a civil war inadequately equipped and under-prepared.

Period.
