The song that comes to mind is ''what do you get when you fall in love''...because that's what most of us did. We fell in love with that hope thing. What we got was lies and pain. We got all kinds of new mountain top removal projects approved. We got no public option on healthcare. We've still got Guantanamo and rendition. We just got 500 leases opened for drilling in the Arctic Ocean and the Keystone XL oil pipeline from Canada to Texas. And a slap on the wrist for that lil' ol'  BP oil spill that we don't hear much about anymore while it still kills out there in the dark deep. And islands along the Gulf coast are still coated in oil with no clean up plans for now...or ever. We've still got the so-called Patriot Act, and we've still got it with no oversight. Big corporations are still in charge. The 99% still are not. And those tax cuts for the rich are safe and warm, baby, safe and warm. Hope is a dead fish. Ah'll nevah fall in that love agin.

I am so with you on this. Hope is such a booger, isn't it? It's awfully hard to let go of it in spite of that cold slap of reality. Things are so messed up.

I enjoy your blog and your poetry very much. Please write more often.
