it's not oil on the face of a dragonfly... it's a slap in the face of God

[This is as much as can be loaded of a brilliant photo by Gerald Herbert, AP/Boston Globe, posted yesterday and which is partially produced here with all possible attribution.]

In spite of the Obama 'moratorium' on off shore drilling and environmental waivers, in the wake of this outrageous BP Oil spill in my beloved Gulf waters [be shrill my heart] it was reported yesterday in the NYT that at least seven drilling permits and five waivers have been granted and apparently will continue to be granted. He was only closing a loophole in the process, not shutting it down. Here is yet another despicable profile in leadership from the president who was never a progressive, but who is now so wholly the whore of corporatist America that I cannot look at his face without feeling the heat of his shame. You want to know why I haven't written anything lately? there it is. All of the words have dried up inside. Torched and scorched. So I'm waiting for a new muse who can speak without blubbering.

THIS. Oh so totally this, dearest Duck. I have been left speechless by what is going on in the world. The only thing that got me blogging again was that my dog--my sweet, sweet dog who would never in a million years engage in the kind of evil we are looking at here--is sick.

Hugs to you, dear one. That is all that is left---hugs and tears.
